Introduction:​

The Teacher Competencies Test is a group of tests for applicants to teaching positions in the public education sector. The tests measure the extent to which minimum requirements are satisfied in applicants to teaching positions. Such requirements include the basic knowledge and skills of the teaching profession. Results of the tests are used in the hiring procedures of educational jobs by the relevant entities at the Ministries of Education and Civil Service. The tests include a general component that examines common educational and pedagogical skills, in addition to multiple specialized tests (27 specialties) that cover most school subjects.​

The tests consist of two parts as the following:

  • General test.
  • Specialty test.

Each test includes 75 questions except for Mathematics and Physics where they include 60 questions.

 

General test:

It covers the general educational fields in which all teaching majors are involved including:

  • Professional knowledge
  • Learning enhancement
  • Learning support
  • Professional responsibility

 

These fields are measured according to 11 specific standards and percentages as the following :

  • Knowing the student and his way of learning 11%
  • The knowledge of  Linguistic and quantitative skills 16%
  • The knowledge of General teaching methods and approaches 15%
  • The knowledge of Preparing integrated learning programs 7%
  • Creating opportunities to enhance students learning 11%
  • Evaluating students learning and providing them with a constructive feedback 13%
  • Creating a safe and supportive learning environment 8%
  • Establishing high expectations and learning – supportive culture 5%
  • Work integration and developing a relationship with parents, custodians and community 5%
  • Continuous development of professional knowledge and practices 4%
  • The knowledge of the professional requirements of Saudi teacher 5%


The test requires no prior preparation in where it does not rely on the information obtained by the testee from the studied curricula. Therefore, it relies on his cultural outcomes and accumulated life experiences as well as his knowledge in his field of specialization. In addition. It is necessary to get to know the methods of questions and how to answer them. It also does not require complicated mathematical calculations since it relies on numbers that can be done mentally or easily. Furthermore, it will be helpful for students to get to know the test's nature through ETEC official website.

Taking the test:

ETEC assures on the continuous review of the official website to know when to take the test since it is offered once a year.

 

General instructions:

  • Visit  ETEC official website instantly for further information on the test's time and centers.
  • Make sure your attendance is at the center, day and date registered for the test.
  • Proceed to the reception committee and ask for your test group administrator  to review the documents and allow you to access and set in your selected seat.
  • questions forms will be distributed with the answer sheet inside after students complete the entrance to the test hall. ( keep the forms safe to allow the scanner read your answers).
  • The hall administrator will instruct you to fill the first page ( personal information ) in conjunction with your test group.
  • Listen carefully to the administrator when instructing how to fill the first page.
  • The administrator will give the permission to open the forms and start the test.
  • Raise your hand for assistance or inquiries from the administrator.
  • The test is multiple choices (A,B,C,D). Shade the letter matching  the correct answer for each question on the answer sheet with a HB-2 pencil, and no liquid or dry ink pen is allowed. Preferably, the student shall bring with him a HB-2 pencil and an eraser.
  • There will be about sixty (60) minutes between entering the hall and the beginning of the test, so the student must be prepared to sit for about four hours.
  • Only those who did not get the passing score can retake the test. It is not necessary to retake the two parts of the test in case of not passing in one part, but you can retake the part which you did not obtain the passing score.



You can sit for the test according to the available seats in case of late registration. (registering after the specified dates for registration on the website)



Test results assists the ministry of  education entities in the applicants scanning process. Also, those applicant of which hold a bachelor degree or graduates can register to sit for the test.


The results will be issued within about three weeks of taking the test after correcting answers using auto-scanning  corrector, reviewing, correcting and editing testees information at ETEC headquarter in Riyadh.​

ETEC will provide entities with results electronically ( the highest score of the testee in case of taking the test more than once). Furthermore, the result will be sent as SMS to your registered mobile No. also, you can view it through ETEC official website or contact the unified No. 920033555​
