ETEC Discusses Accreditation of Colleges of Medicine in KSA


​His Excellence Dr.Hussam Zaman, ETECs' President, inaugurated the Deans of Medicine Colleges Workshop, organized by the National Center for Academic Accreditation at ETEC headquarters ibn Riyadh two days ago.


 During his Speech, HE welcomed the Deans of Medicine Colleges, and leaders of professional and scientific commissions who attended the workshop and emphasized the role of accreditation as a reliable tool for quality assurance. He mentioned that ETEC has started applying for recognition from the World Federation for Medical Education WFME.


On the other hand, Executive Director of NCAAA Dr. Suhail Bajammal, stated that the number of academic programs for the bachelor of Medicine licensed by the Ministry of Education is 36, 6 of which have been granted academic accreditation while 11 programs have applied to accreditation which means that only 17 programs ( 47% of medical programs) are in the process of meeting specifications.


HE stated that according to the US regulations, international med students will not be accepted unless their colleges are accredited by NCAAA by 2023 and that ETEC is facilitating processes for colleges to be granted academic accreditation in addition to partnership with universities


This workshop emphasizes the role of ETEC the evaluation and accreditation of academic programs in universities of KSA, which in turn promotes their contribution to the economy and national development.
