ETEC Launches “QBOOL” Index to Track High School Performance on HE Admission Tests

HE Dr. Husam Zaman, ETEC President, launched the QBOOL Index, which was designed to track the performance of high schools on higher education admission tests.

The index involves both components of GAT (verbal and quantitative) as well as both versions of SAAT (Science and Arts).

ETEC explained that the QBOOL Index relies on the classification of high schools based on the performance of their students on GAT and SAAT admission tests. It is meant to encourage high schools to develop their programs and learning outcomes to improve the preparedness of their students for these tests.

The Executive Director of the National Center for Assessment and School Excellence, Dr. Mohammed bin Hindi Al-Ghamdi, explained that it has been scientifically proven that there are multiple factors at play when it comes to the quality of a school’s programs. Thus, care should be taken when interpreting the ratings of schools on the QBOOL Index.

Nevertheless, the QBOOL Index is a significant development that built upon the data previously published by Qiyas on school performance, and it is the first initiative developed by the newly-established Center.
